Overcoming Loss, Creating a Warrior Mindset & Training in Thailand with Chris Mauceri

Chris Mauceri is a prime example of a new school trained, but vicious fighter who bears an old school mindset. His athleticism stemmed from the years he spent in gymnastics in the pursuit of the Olympic dream; gymnastics rose in popularity during Georges St. Pierre’s reign as the UFC Champion when he was quoted saying, “Nobody can reproduce the movement of gymnastic guys, but gymnastic guys can reproduce the movement of everyone. They’re the most complete athletes in the world”.

Being introduced into the professional rankings, Chris Mauceri was quickly thrown in with the wolves, with less then 10 fights under his belt facing the likes of Kevin Ross [45-13], Giga Chikadze [38-6], a win over Coke Chunhawat [147-27-1], and a true test of heart against Ilias Bulaid [149-7-2]. Chris may be the ultimate exemplification that was quoted above by Georges.

There is something different in Chris’ movement and form, it is almost as if you drove a pole through the centerline of his body. As he comes forward you feel the pressure, but you also have a difficult time landing the counter as he is never overextended, he is always in balance and in alignment to block, to fire at will or to defend as he pleases.

Chris Mauceri Highlight Reel:

Chris’ style and balance were both very complimentary of the Muay Thai style, Muay Thai is a sport in which balance comes with the upmost importance. His authoritative long guard has become a staple in drawing in elbows and knees, exiting and scoring with strong body kicks – all of which come with great alignment to the scoring of Muay Thai.

Since his initial run in Muay Thai, he has fought the best in the world in the Glory Kickboxing ring – all under a ruleset that takes adjusting – even to the world’s best athletes. After overcoming loss in the kickboxing ring, Chris has pushed forward with warrior spirit, looking to avenge these loses and to cement himself as one of the best strikers in the world.
