The “Hit and Don’t Get Hit” Drill by Justin Greskiewicz

Hit and don’t be hit.

This video is as simple as that, well not really, but this tutorial will have you landing shots without taking any unneeded punishment. Justin “Purple People Eater” Greskiewicz explains how to use step and rhythm to judge your distance, land combinations, break your rhythm, and strike back once again.

Key Points to Remember

Hands up at all times. Using your distance is the key to this technique, but there is always room for error. Use your insurance policy when needed.

-The rhythm is broken once the opponent strikes back, make sure you are not hopping away from him or her and missing your opportunity to capitalize on a second combination or strike.

Stay in the pocket. Spring back just far enough to make your opponent miss, keeping the rear leg relatively straight to use it as a spring when coming back in.

Reset your hip and bring your punches back to your face with each strike.
